David J. Tarbert is a Zanesville native and obtained a B.S., summa cum laude, from Muskingum College as well as law degrees from The Ohio State University College of Law and Oxford University. After working in Columbus, Ohio for several years, David returned home to Zanesville in 1996 and began practicing with Kincaid, Taylor & Geyer. David is involved in civil and criminal litigation, real estate, family law, estate planning, and probate matters.

David has served as the 5th Ward Zanesville City Councilman since 1996 and has been active in numerous community organizations, including the Helen Purcell Board of Trustees, the Muskingum County Community Foundation Council, The United Way, American Cancer Society, Zanesville Rotary, Zanesville Jaycees, the Zanesville Community Theater, and the Arthritis Foundation.

David is married to his wife Emily and has two daughters and a son, Hannah, Ellie and Truman. He enjoys running and adventure racing.
